I'm trying to create a Webquest for my first grade students today, but I've been having a lot of trouble. While I love the idea behind webquests, I'm not sure how to make the most out of them. I want to do a webquest with first graders and this raises a lot of concerns. First off, I know that I'll have to do them in groups, because there's no way that we'd get anything done if they were each at individual computers, so I'm not sure what to do with the students while they aren't at the computer. Some of my first graders can read pretty well, but most of them struggle through a sentence or two. Since being able to read the directions of a webquest is pretty critical, that means that I'll have to be with the group reading to them....so I'm not sure how to keep an eye on the rest of the students. I also want the groups to complete the webquests as independently as possible, but if I'm right there, I'm afraid that I'll give more direction than they need.
Any advice on logistics when using webquests with lower elementary?
