Musings of a second-year teacher.

So I guess I'm not 100% sure exactly what I'm supposed to be writing in here, so I'll put some stuff down and hope it's right. It's been a really cool experience so far to learn about all the options I have as an elementary school teacher to use technology. I did a slightly random search of elementary education blogs last night and I got really really excited about teaching! I can't wait for my practicum to start and I can't wait to student teach next year!

One of the blogs that I've set as a feed was really interesting. http://community.livejournal.com/elem_ed/ It's a compilation of a lot of elementary ed majors and there are some really great ideas posted on there. I read the article about the Olympics and I was amazed at the great ideas that they came up with that incorporated learning with fun!! It really inspired me to think of all the fun things you can do that the kids can relate to (and learn from!). I think that's about all I have to say for now.

I think it'll be interesting to see what the practicums are like and how much they use technology. I LOVE the fact that the internet opens you up to thousands of mentors. I'm slightly more wary about having students use all the technology, simply because I'm not sure if the schools I'll be teaching in will be equipped. I think that's gonna be the biggest challenge, and I'm interested in seeing how schools around here address that.

I think that's all for now. I know I'll have lots more to comment on once I start my practicum. Yay!
